Description of material
APML/EL2 is an austenitic stainless steel with an exact chemical balance designed to be used as filler wire, bare stainless steel welding electrodes and rods for the welding of austenitic grades such as type 316. Its high Silicon content improves both the fluidity and the geometric morphology of the weld. The composition of APML/EL2 supplies the right balance of Ferrite (FN). However, due to its Silicon content, an evaluation of the dilution of the weld metal should be done in order to ensure the solidification as primary ferrite, thereby reducing cracking susceptibility in the fused zone.
APML/EL2 is suitable for welding low Carbon Austenitic type 316L and type 316.
APML/EL2 weld metal offers the same pitting and intergranular resistance corrosion of type 316/L in Chloride containing environments thanks to its Molybdenum content and very low Carbon content.
