Brake Systems
A moving vehicle, in case of necessity, must stop as soon as possible and thus in the shortest required distance: all guaranteed by an efficient braking system. The performance of current cars has required an adjustment of the braking system with the consequent use of more “valuable” materials that would guarantee an improved performance, which is why stainless steels are also widely used in braking systems.
The components used in a brake system can be obtained from both turning and cold heading and this is why for the same type of steel (AISI 304) a different form may be used; a couple of examples of steel both for cold heading (AISR/1) and for turning are listed below.
